Fr Ed Bids Farewell!

Fr Ed Bids Farewell!

After almost 2 decades of service in the Gorbals and also the wider area of the city, it was time for us all to say a sad farewell to Fr Edmund Highton OFM.

The church was packed with current and former parishioners, friends and even some of his own siblings, who had all come together to join Fr Ed in officiating his final mass in his role as parish priest at Blessed John Duns Scotus Parish.

After a celebratory mass there was time for a buffet with the assembled crowd and the chance for last personal farewells.

We are all eternally grateful for the gifts he brought with him in supporting the parish collectively but also at the individual and personal level. He departs, we hope, with many fond memories of his time with us and further enriched by the somewhat different cultural experiences offered here in Glasgow in comparison to his previous mission locations!

We can only say a great big thank you for all you have given in the service of God for the people of the area. You shall be remembered with much love and gratitude.
