Easter Gift Tree
Easter is a time of great hope and we must look to spread that hope to those in need. Jesus calls us to serve the poor, telling us that whatever we do for the poorest, we do for Him.
This year our Parish collected items that went directly to the poor and vulnerable in our city who are afflicted by homelessness. A gift tree was set up at the back of the church during Lent where donations of warm clothes and some food items etc could be made.
These items included; toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss, shampoo, shower gel, deodorant, plasters, wet wipes), clothes (warm hat, socks, scarf, gloves, underwear, T-shirt). Food; fruit snacks, single serving snacks, protein bars, pot noodles.
The items were distributed through charities that work directly with the most vulnerable members our society. So, during Lent we will be supporting the poor in this most practical way and by keeping them in our prayers.
